Which Transparencies Can I Use With My Copier to Ensure High Quality Copies?
Calendar Thursday, January 23rd, 2014
In order to ensure high-quality copies that do not risk damaging a copier machine, you must select the proper copier parts and supplies. For example, you cannot assume that all transparencies can be used in a copier. You must purchase copier-specific transparencies. It may seem like a hassle to hunt down copier-specific supplies. However, you significantly minimize the risk of damaging an expensive, key piece of office equipment by taking the few extra minutes and dollars to get the right thing the first time around.
Where can I get copier-specific transparencies?
Copier-specific transparencies are readily available from big box and local office supply stores as well as online retailers, such as Amazon. It should not be hard to find details about the applications for a given set of transparencies. If you are ever in doubt, don’t hesitate to ask the retailer.
It is worth shopping around for copier-specific transparencies to ensure that you get the best quality transparencies. Not all brands are created equal, and you don’t want to waste valuable time and money printing on poor quality materials. If you aren’t sure where to start, consult with fellow business owners and/or read online reviews for different transparency options.
Why can’t I use other transparencies with my copier?
Copier transparencies are strong and guaranteed not to smudge, due to their rapid drying time. If you’ve had issues in the past with smeared, messy transparencies that took forever to dry (i.e. a transparency that you used in an ink jet printer), these worries are now a thing of the past.
The water-based coating on copier-specific transparencies produces flawless text and images and ensures that they will feed properly into virtually every copier. Before you purchase transparencies, check whether your copier requires a sensing stripe to feed film through the paper tray. You can consult the copier manual or talk with UCI to get this information.
Transparencies are sold both with and without stripes and are labeled as such on the packaging.
Keep in mind that transparencies not intended for copier use can melt in the copy machine’s fusing assembly, severely damaging the machine. If you believe that the wrong kind of transparency has already damaged your machine beyond repair that you can do on your own, call a technician. You don’t want to make a serious matter even worse.
