This process is simple and straightforward and saves your valuable staff members many hours of tedious labor. Copying onto windowed envelopes (plastic windows) is not a good idea because they will melt in the fuser and jam.The process for feeding envelopes into a copy machine goes as follows:

1. Place the envelopes in the copier’s bypass or MP tray.
2. Use the selection menu to set envelopes as the type of paper. If needed, select the envelope size.
3. Insert the envelopes in the document feeder. Depending on the copier model, they may either go face up or face down. If you aren’t sure which way they should face, consult your copier manual or contact UCI for details.
4. Align the paper guides to the envelope side.
5. Enter the number of envelopes that you would like to print.
6. Press start.

There are a few tips that you should keep in mind when feeding envelopes to ensure accurate, smooth functioning.

• Store envelopes that you will run through the copier in a cool, dry place. Damp envelopes are more likely to jam the machine. If you do find damp envelopes, replace them.
• Ensure that there is no air in the envelopes before loading them into the copier.
• For optimal print quality, set the left, right, top, and bottom print margins to a minimum of 0.6-inches or 15-mm each.
• Load a single size and type of envelope at a time. A copier cannot handle multiple sizes and types for a single job.
• The Duplex function on a copier does not work for printing envelopes.
• Before you load the envelopes, flatten the leading edges or the side that is going into the machine by pressing a ruler or pencil edge across them.
